Challenge

Creating an audio experience that accurately reflects the intricate relationship between religion and science, while engaging and educating the audience, was no small feat. The exhibition explores four central perspectives: the view upwards (the universe), the view inwards (the body), the view outwards (nature), and the view downwards (the earth). Each perspective examines the interplay between religion and science, from the influence of Christianity on scientific inquiry to the way new scientific insights challenged the Christian worldview. Our challenge was to bring this complex narrative to life through sound.

Result

Big Orange The Audio Agency successfully produced an immersive audio tour and atmospheric soundscapes that guide visitors through the exhibition. The audio content not only enhances the storytelling but also encourages visitors to view history and themselves from different angles. The involvement of astronaut André Kuipers added an authentic and captivating element to the tour. The exhibition, supported by various esteemed organizations and designed by Trapped in Suburbia, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of numerous scientists and advisors.

We are proud to have contributed to this unique project, which invites audiences on a journey through centuries-old scientific instruments, rare manuscripts, and intriguing art, revealing the profound influence of religion on the development of modern natural sciences in Western Europe.
